Asking for some good vibes and prayers
Mrs. Bird has gone through a long stretch of pain. She had adult scoliosis correction in February of 2023. About a year later she had pain going down her right leg to her foot. We saw the doctor who did the surgery and after x-rays determined that the rods and screws (32 screws and 4 rods) were where they supposed to be. Suggested she see the pain doctor. So, we did. She had several injections some of which provided a bit of relief and some which didnt. Pain and weakness became worse which necessitated going from a walking stick to a walker.
Our CNP suggested going outside our normal hospital/medical group to get fresh eyes on the problem. So we made an appointment. New spine doc took extensive history and asked many questions. He ordered an x-ray. When we saw it he noted that the scoliosis correction had been done very well. The back isnt the problem. She needs a new hip. Surgery is scheduled for March 13. Basically, the ball has collapsed and is almost square shaped.
My wife has had a history of back issues that started with a blown out disc due to sneezing. After the micro lumbar discectomy in about 1987 or so she needed spinal decompression in 2016. One nerve was so flattened going through the vertebra that the sheaf was tearing. Within the next two weeks of that surgery she had two infections (one was staph) that required going back in to clean them out. That caused her scoliosis to really go nuts.
What she wants out of this is just to be able to walk without pain.
Thanks for listening.

Vet visit for Fuzzy
Fuzzy is our Huscadore (Husky/Lab mix). He is 13. Today we took him in for yearly shots and heart worm check. He has a lot of lumps which are generally fatty tissue and arent a problem. The nice lady vet listened to his heart and lungs for longer than usual. She then asked if she could take some x-rays.
It turns out she heard a heart murmur. The x-rays showed an enlarged heart. Fuzzy hasnt been coughing but he will pant more than he used to. There were also some areas on his lower lungs that might indicate some fluid from bronchitis or pneumonia even though he hasnt been coughing. He does snore a fair amount. The vet said that this is common for large dogs. It is not time for good-by yet but we were saddened by the news. Fuzzy is getting a diuretic for two weeks so they can get a better view of his lungs. He still seems as happy as ever.
Kindly send some good vibes his way.
The Past, the Present and the Future...
Walked in a bar.
It was tense.
Ill see myself out.
Problem seeing things people post
When people post cartoons, tweets or other type of links to other social media I cannot see them. Do I need to do something? I use Express VPN if that means something.
Thanks,
Bird
Welp, the Democratic Party is on the verge of handing the presidency to a raving lunatic
The time for discussion about who the nominee of the Democratic Party was to be in 2024 was before the primaries.
Now, the circular firing squad is showing, intentionally or not that our party is a disorganized mess. This helps the orange lunatic, period.
The polls are crazy. Yet, here we are. People scared to death of losing appear to willing to put forth an image the perception of which is that our party doesnt know what the fuck it is doing.
Please note that this is a video but I think is applicable
We sing this in our church choir during Advent.
I cannot get through it without crying because of one verse - they will war no more

Ohio Republicans Want Teacher Curriculums Shared Online
https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/2022/01/03/ohio-republicans-want-teacher-curriculums-shared-online/9054152002/At first blush this might not seem like a bad idea although parents already have access to the school curriculum. What is interesting is one small paragraph in the article:
And he (state representative Brett Hudson Hillyer R-Uhichsville) thought it could tone down some of the rhetoric at school board meetings about divisive concepts like slavery and racism.
So the problem is actually laid bare by Hillyers own words. Racism and slavery are too divisive.
Divisive for who? Those who were and are the target of racism? Or too divisive for delicate Republicans?
Merely one more example of Oh-Alabama-io.
